IntelliGrid Technical Results
Information Architecture: IntelliGrid Architecture provides the building codes for the future grid The IntelliGrid Architecture volumes describe a process that utilities can use when designing communications-based systems on transmission, distribution or customer-oriented systems. High-levels concepts and guidelines provides useful tools to implement the following concepts:
IntelliGrid Architecture Status Report: Technology Transfer Activities and Recommendations IntelliGrid Application Guidelines: Metering and Consumer Systems Guidelines for Assisting Understanding and Use of IntelliGrid Architecture Recommendations: Distribution Operations (2) Guidelines for Assisting Understanding and Use of IntelliGrid Architecture Recommendations: Transmission Operations (2) Fast Simulation and Modeling designs the engine needed for a self-healing grid The overall vision of fully functional Fast Simulation and Modeling tools is to achieve a self-healing power grid through power prevention, containment of power interruption, and providing tools to help operators in their decision-making to optimize grid operations and to predict grid behavior. The approach taken by IntelliGrid is not to develop products but to use software and equipment solutions available today and identify new software and hardware solutions needed in the future that would all work in an integrated and open environment to achieve the functions necessary for FSM.

IntelliGrid interfaces with customers enables an open communications gateway to support demand response and advanced metering infrastructure Modern customer interfaces will transform existing meter and in-house equipment into a communications system that will empowers consumers and helps utilities to offer new value-added energy services. These services will include demand response, net metering, real-time pricing, energy and appliance management. Intelligrid has worked with utilities since 2003 to create a reference model to be used in design, and with all stakeholders to perform field demonstrations.
